The Hooters
The Hooters's History
The Hooters are an American rock band that formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1980. The band consists of Eric Bazilian (vocals, guitar, mandolin, keyboards, harmonica), Rob Hyman (vocals, keyboards, accordion, melodica), John Lilley (guitar, vocals), Fran Smith Jr. (bass, vocals), and David Uosikkinen (drums, percussion). They are best known for their 1985 hit song "And We Danced" and their collaboration with Cyndi Lauper on the hit song "Time After Time."
The band got their start playing in local Philadelphia clubs and bars. They were discovered by producer Rick Chertoff, who helped them secure a record deal with Columbia Records. Their debut album, "Amore," was released in 1983, but it wasn't until the release of their second album, "Nervous Night," in 1985 that they achieved mainstream success.
"Nervous Night" spawned several hit singles, including "And We Danced," "Day by Day," and "All You Zombies." The album was a massive success, reaching No. 12 on the Billboard 200 chart and going platinum in the United States. The Hooters went on to release several more albums throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including "One Way Home" (1987), "Zig Zag" (1989), "Out of Body" (1993), and "Hooterization: A Retrospective" (1996).
The Hooters have always been known for their energetic and engaging live performances. They have toured extensively throughout their career, both in the United States and internationally. They have played at some of the world's biggest music festivals, including Live Aid in 1985 and the Rock in Rio festival in 1991. They have also shared the stage with some of the biggest names in music, including The Who, U2, and Bruce Springsteen.
In recent years, The Hooters have continued to tour and perform live. They have played at a number of music festivals around the world, including the Rewind Festival in the United Kingdom and the Rock of Ages festival in Germany. They have also played a number of shows in their hometown of Philadelphia, including a sold-out show at the TLA in 2019.
