Overview
The Goo Goo Dolls launched their career in the mid-1980s as a punk-rock band and had notched a recording contract and released two albums by the decade’s end. However, they did not gain significant acclaim until the release of 1993’s Superstar Car Wash. They built on this success with their next studio effort A Boy Named Goo, which featured their first Top 40 single “Name.” The band’s most successful LP – 1998’s Dizzy Up the Girl - grew their popularity thanks to hits like “Slide,” “Dizzy,” “Broadway” and their signature song “Iris.” The Goo Goo Dolls – currently comprised of frontman Johnny Rzeznik, bassist Robby Takac, and drummer Craig Macintyre – have sold millions of records and earned various accolades throughout their career. To commemorate the 20 year anniversary of their best-selling album Dizzy Up the Girl, they are embarking on a massive North American tour with Train as co-headliners.
