Formed in England 55 years ago, The Who have become one of the most prolific rock groups in music history. With their lineup consisting of frontman Roger Daltrey, guitarist Pete Townshend, bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Mood, The Who launched their early career by playing gigs around London, which is where they discovered their signature auto-destructive art during live performances. Their popularity quickly grew in the U.K. thanks to early singles like “I Can’t Explain,” “Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere,” and “My Generation.” By the early 1970s, The Who were rockstars in the U.S. with the smash success of their fourth album Tommy, singles like “Pinball Wizard” and “Baba O’Riley” and a thrilling live performance at Woodstock. In the decades since, they have remained a staple of rock music and frequently found on tour.
